Angry Birds! Ha Hoo Ha!

Angry Birds! Who isn't crazy about this insanely addictive game? My kids certanly are. So I decided to surprise my younger son with this huge Angry Bird for his 5th birthday in school. Well, the kids were all really excited that Angry Bird came to visit :) Best part was, my son was thrilled and that was good enough for me :)

The mini birds and pigs were cross-eyed work! So tiny my fingers looked fat beside them! Especially making those teeny tiny eyes, gosh!

Made Angry Birds cookie pops for the kids to take home.

Cars!

An old friend of mine whose son is a huge fan of the cartoon Cars, ordered this cake for his third birthday. Just so happened I was on holiday to Hong Kong Disneyland and picked up these toy Cars for the cake. I was glad they all could fit pretty nicely on it!

High heel shoe with shoebox cake

I was told the birthday girl likes shopping, shoes and bags so we decided on a cake that is related to one of those elements. I've done a shoe before, but I really wanted to try doing another one, especially since I was given free reign of the design and I was eager to try out some new techniques :) I love it when I'm trusted to come up with a design for a cake. I am free to excercise my creativity!

I loved how the shoe turned out, especially the shimmer effect I applied to the "fabric" of the shoe. And this must be one of my favourite colour combis, pink and dark brown! Pretty!

Nikon Camera Cake

It was my friend's hubby's 30th birthday and he's a big photography buff. So she requested for a cake in the shape of his camera, a Nikon D700.

I decided to complete the whole look by adding in photographs of himself with his family. The camera is all cake. You can even eat the lens!

That's the real Nikon camera in the background :)

May The Force be With You!!!

A few months back, a good friend contacted me about a surprise birthday party for her hubby. By virtue of the fact that he is a huge Star Wars fan, she wanted a Star Wars birthday cake that will wow and blow the whole party away. We threw ideas about and in the end, it was decided that we would do a 3D R2D2 cake.

On top of that, there would also be cookie pop favours for the birthday guests... yes the birthday boy is still young at heart :)

PARTY TIME!

Birthday boy distributing cookie pops!

Food! Food! Food!

 Birthday boy and wifey!

"Happy Birthday to you!!!!!!"

Performing brain surgery :p
I was in charge of "dissecting" R2D2 since I knew where his "skeleton" would be hahahaha!! R2D2's head is made from yummy moist Luscious Vanilla Bean cake with Vanilla buttercream. The funniest thing was the guests "screamed" in sympathy pain as I pulled apart and slice up R2D2 meticulously, it was so funny! I was never happier cutting up a cake, I dunno why....hmmmm :p

That's me with my blood, sweat and tears of a cake! I hardly ever get to take a picture together with a cake I made. This is a rare occasion since I was also a guest at the party :)

Super Mario Mushroom

The birthday boy loves the Super Mario game and so his girlfriend decided to get this cake for him. This is the 1 UP mushroom from the game sitting on top of a block where Mario is supposed to hit it to get points. Ok... I know this might not make sense and I'm not that good at game-speak.. but if you are familiar with the game, I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about :)

Mushroom and block are all made of cake.

The Big Cheese...

The big cheese actually means the most important person. How did this phrase come about? In earlier times the cheese didn't have to be big - 'the cheese' alone was a synonym for quality.

So it was fitting that this Cheese cake was made for my boss, on behalf of my team, to celebrate Boss's Day. My boss, the big cheese aka the most important person (he who writes our appraisal which determines our bonus...heehehehehe).  Six little mice = the six of us in our team :)
