Chinese New Year Cookies!

 CNY rolls round again but I've been so busy I haven't had time to bake much. But what is CNY without baking cookies?? So I decided to do a couple of simple ones; Crunchy Cornflake Cookies and Almond Cookies. Had planned for so many more, but lacked the time and energy. Guess it'll have to wait till next year then.

Cookies, cookies & more cookies ! CNY 2010

Busy, busy, baking, baking, filling, filling, jar after jar of...... deliciously sinful once-a year total indulgence of Chinese New Year cookies! 

This year's booty includes my signature Butter-licious!, Almond Shortbread, Cornflake Crunchies, Melting Moments, Almond Joy, Nutty Cookies.....guess that's all I could handle this time round (that's more than my tummy can handle though...!) 

 All too soon, CNY will be over and we can then look forward to next year's baking....and feasting!!

Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010!!

The year has flown by in a flash. 2009 will be gone in like less than 48 hours and the new year is slowly but surely creeping up on us.

This has been a wonderfully fulfilling year, with so many new challenges met. Thank you to all those who have entrusted me with providing sweet treats for your special occasions. I hope I made a difference, if only for a tiny little bit.

I'm taking a short breather these few days to catch up with life (and sleep...:p), but I'll be back in the new year with more goodies!!! Come to think of it, it's not too soon that the next festive period is just round the corner.

It's certainly going to be a busy time what with Chinese New Year and Valentines Day falling on the same day! (a nightmare for us bakers....) In any case, do contact me early if you wish to ensure that your tummy is filled for CNY and that you have that special gift for that special someone in your life.

I'll be away in mid January for a week, but rest assured I'll try to reply to all emails as soon as I possibly can.

I have been churning out cookies by the jar.....glad the oven is holding up! :)

Cornflake Crunchies

This is supposed to be an all-time favourite during Chinese New Year, espeically with the kids. So I had to try making them since they are a popular fixture at homes during the festive period. I had to have it as a fixture in my home too :)

Chinese New Year Almond Cookies

With Chinese New Year fast approaching and with all my grand plans of baking this year's goodies for the family instead of buying them from the stores, I thought it is never too early to start work :p

This was a small trial batch of Chinese New Year Almond cookies, just to make sure the recipe still works and that it doesn't give me any weird surprises when I get down to churning them out by the hundreds nearer to CNY. Yum!

Do you hear the drums and gongs of Chinese New Year?

The baking frenzy for Christmas is just over. Finally I can get more than four hours of sleep a night :p

However, Chinese New Year is pretty early for 2009. It is only about a month after Christmas! Looks like it's only going to be a short break before I get back to my oven for another round of baking madness to churn out Chinese New Year goodies! Stay tuned!
